Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College is excited to showcase the artworks of Shaun Chosa, Turtle Mountain Band member. More than 20 paintings by Chosa will be on display around campus through December 18. To celebrate the exhibition, the Ruth A. Myers Library at �鶹�� will be hosting a special virtual event with the artist on Wednesday, November 30, 2022.

Shaun Chosa is a self-taught artist with a background in graphic design. He uses photographs as the basis and starting point for the images and paintings he creates. Being raised by a young single Native mother, who was a painter herself, led Chosa to witness, and sometimes partake, in various aspects of many different cultures in addition to Indigenous ones all over the United States. The artist lives and works in Ely, Minnesota, and he is a Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa citizen. He has two cats and spends most of his time creating art in his studio. His usual pastimes include exploring art, reading, and enjoying cinema from around the world. Visit the artist’s YouTube page to learn more: .

“�鶹�� is fortunate to host the creative works of Shaun Chosa. Chosa’s paintings highlight creative interpretations of both historical and contemporary images – images that carry an air of familiarity and are yet ethereal,” shared Roxanne DeLille, Dean of Indigenous and Academic Affairs at �鶹��.

To celebrate the exhibition of Chosa’s work at �鶹��, the Ruth A. Myers Library is hosting a free event from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. Chosa will join the event virtually and discuss his paintings on display at the college. The public is welcome to attend this great event via Zoom or in the Ruth A. Myers Library.

“We are getting a lot of positive responses from students as they view Shaun’s work,” shared Keith Cich, �鶹�� Librarian, “…How inspiring it is, how powerful the paintings are, how they transform our spaces. It is a real privilege to have Shaun’s work on campus this semester.”
